Situation Report: SC Baptist Disaster Relief 10/10/17

 In Disaster Relief, Frontpage

This week, SC has an Incident Management team (including DR Director Randy Creamer), shower/laundry unit, feeding team, and mud-out unit working in Jacksonville, and one shower/laundry unit in Immokalee, FL.  The Jacksonville site is scheduled to close Wed. Oct. 11. We currently have no volunteers or units in TX, but may deploy a mud-out unit to Houston after this weekend’s training event. There are nearly 400 registered for the White Oak training, our largest event attendance in at least 4 years, thanks to all these hurricanes!

NAMB is working to establish staging sites in Puerto Rico – there are many challenges and it is slow-going. SC volunteers may join in with other states’ volunteers to make up teams for PR if we are not able to field a complete team ourselves. Deployments to PR will require at least a 2-wk. time commitment.

Please continue to pray for those enduring hardship because of the hurricanes, and for those who are following God’s call to help them. Physically, pray for protection and hydration as teams work in the heat. Spiritually, pray that hurricane survivors will be able to see that God loves them because they see His love through the Disaster Relief volunteers.
