Defining the South Carolina Baptist Convention

The South Carolina Baptist Convention is a Cooperative Program-funded resource for South Carolina Baptist churches and their work. South Carolina Baptist churches voluntarily join and are affiliated with local associations and the state convention.

The South Carolina Baptist Convention is an affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention. The South Carolina Baptist Convention considers The Baptist Faith and Message to be its statement on faith.

About Us

The South Carolina Baptist Convention was formed in 1821 and was the first state Baptist convention in the United States. Extensive historical information about the convention and its churches, including photographs and documents, is maintained in the Historical Services Room at the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
