Happy to Serve with Disaster Relief
Regina Ray is from the upstate of South Carolina. After hearing about a Disaster Relief training session a couple of years ago, something moved within her spirit. “I felt like this is what I’m supposed to do,” she said.
Since then, she’s been deployed with a DR team five times, most recently to Florida after the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian in late September and early October of 2022. “I’m grieved by what is happening to people, but at the same time, there is this sense of urgency to go and help,” she said. “It’s one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever been a part of.”
Although Regina initially felt like she was not ready or equipped to volunteer with DR, she said that God equipped her. “God equips us for the things that he wants us to do, and you might be surprised what you can do,” she said. “There’s many, many jobs that come together for us to do things to serve others and there’s a place for you.” As for Regina, she’s “happy to be part of Disaster Relief.”
