Christian Life and Public Affairs Committee

We work to represent South Carolina Baptists in the public square.

Legislative priorities for 2026:

pushing back against gambling, promoting a culture of life, and protecting parental rights.

The Christian Life and Public Affairs Committee of the South Carolina Baptist Convention works to represent South Carolina Baptists in the public square. The committee does this by educating believers on pressing cultural and legislative issues, equipping churches to engage society with biblical conviction and Christlike compassion, and advocating for laws and policies that protect religious liberty, uphold biblical morality, and promote justice and human flourishing.

Through research, resources, partnerships, and public engagement, the committee serves as a voice for South Carolina Baptists in matters affecting the common good, always seeking to glorify Christ and advance his Kingdom. To this end, the committee works alongside SCBaptist Public Policy Advisor, Dr. Tony Beam.
