Catching Vision for Church Planting in Puerto Rico

Recently a group of youth pastors and mission leaders from SC traveled to Puerto Rico for a Catch the Vision Tour led by the North American Mission Board.

The island of Puerto Rico is only one 1400-mile flight away from South Carolina but worlds apart in culture and diversity.

Planting and Outreach Efforts

In 2004 the Puerto Rican Baptist Convention signed an agreement with NAMB to collaborate on church planting and mission endeavors. Today there are 52 Baptist churches in various stages of growth and revitalization. Planting and evangelistic outreach have resulted in new churches and compassion ministry centers operated by Send Relief all over the island.

Ministry Opportunities

The ministry centers address human needs with compassion while sharing the love of Jesus in word and deed. An orphanage and adoption agency are two of the newest ministry centers established through the partnership between Send Relief and Puerto Rican Baptists. Two of the ministry centers have space for mission teams to stay, eat, and train while they serve on mission with local churches and community agencies.

The Send Team is developing a mission partnership with Puerto Rico and can facilitate mission projects for churches that would like to participate.
