Renewing a Passion for Missions at WMU Annual Meeting

The South Carolina Woman’s Missionary Union recently concluded its annual meeting, as 324 attendees congregated at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church on March 22nd and 23rd.

This annual event is for teens and adults to strengthen their faith and find their place in missions. Throughout the two-day event, participants had the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities and sessions. A total of 23 breakout sessions were offered, covering topics such as ministry training, missions engagement, personal equipping, and mental health. These sessions provided attendees with valuable insights and practical knowledge to further their missionary endeavors and personal growth.

Encouragement For All

The general sessions were a focal point of the gathering, featuring speakers from the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board, as well as representatives from the state convention and WMU. Attendees were also encouraged by Andrea Lennon, Women’s Ministry Specialist at Arkansas Baptist State Convention, who led engaging Bible study sessions focused on pursuing God’s passion for the lost.

The inclusive nature of the event was highlighted by the presence of Kevin and Casey, IMB missionaries to Deaf communities, along with interpreters facilitating accessibility for attendees from the Deaf community. This gesture underscored the commitment of SCWMU to ensuring that all individuals feel welcomed and included in the mission of spreading God’s love.

Looking Ahead

One of the standout highlights of the meeting was that attendees gave $3,667.48 toward Camp La Vida beautification and improvement projects. Camp La Vida is a missions discipleship camp for girls from grades 3-12. The camp has served Southern Baptist Churches in South Carolina since 1983.

Reflecting on the success of the meeting, SCWMU expressed gratitude to Boiling Springs First Baptist Church for their gracious hospitality in hosting the event. Looking ahead, the organization announced plans for next year’s gathering, scheduled to take place at Sweetwater Baptist Church in North Augusta on March 28th and 29th, 2025. SCWMU invites all individuals passionate about missions to mark their calendars and join in the celebration of faith and fellowship.
