Local Seminary Student Wins Ministry Award

Bradford Russ, student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Greenwood, South Carolina native, was selected to receive the O.S. Hawkins Outstanding Pastoral Ministry Graduate Award.

This award is given to a theology student making progress toward graduation who has demonstrated a call to pastoral ministry. The recipient is considered to be of sound moral character, possesses an exceptional commitment to the Christian ministry, and is a member of a Southern Baptist Church.

Russ is a graduate of Liberty University and is pursuing a Master of Divinity at SWBTS. Along with other top students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he was honored for his academic achievements at the student awards banquet held on April 14. Students who meet the criteria for each award are nominated and voted on by SWBTS faculty.

“I am extremely impressed by the recipients of this year’s Southwestern Seminary’s student awards,” said Matt Queen, interim provost and vice president for academic administration. “These gifted men and women have excelled in scholarship and service both inside and outside the classroom. They make Southwesterners everywhere proud by the ways in which they live their calling through practicing the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission.”

Congratulations, Bradford!
