Hurricane Idalia Response Winds Down

Operations at the Inverness, Florida site are coming to a close as most homeowners there have received the help they need. SC Baptist Disaster Relief (SCBDR) has been partnering with Alabama Disaster Relief at that site for flood recovery (“mud-out”).

There were three mud-out units scheduled to go to Inverness on Sunday, Sept. 10, but Alabama DR leaders let us know that only one unit was needed. The mud-out unit from Charleston Baptist Church went as scheduled, joining the Beaverdam Association unit already on site. The Greenville Association and Pickens-Twelve Mile Association units were stood down. Also stood down were several units scheduled to go in subsequent weeks.

We are thankful that the damages from Hurricane Idalia in Florida were not as severe as anticipated, and residents are rapidly able to return to normalcy in their lives. We also rejoice that the spiritual influence of Baptist Disaster Relief in the four areas of service (Inverness, Cross City, Perry, and Live Oak) resulted in 23 salvations as of 9/11/23!

Your prayers and gifts are crucial to Disaster Relief ministry success. Thank you for your support!
