Chainsaw Units: Opportunity to SERVE

Chainsaw units are needed this winter/spring to deal with damaged trees at our state Baptist camps, Camp La Vida and Camp McCall. In addition to helping the camps prepare for the summer camping season, this is a great opportunity for DR chainsaw teams to sharpen their skills and work as a team in a non-disaster setting close to home.

Camp La Vida is in the midlands, north of Winnsboro. There are dead trees on the property that need to be cut down so they don’t fall across roads, etc. For more details on the projects there and to schedule your unit for a workday, contact Troy Coates, Business/Maintenance Manager, 803-422-3213, troycoates@scbaptist.org.

Camp McCall is in the upstate near Sunset, SC. They could use help with tree damage from winter weather. The contacts there are Facility Director Alex Cooke, alexcooke@scbaptist.org; 864-878-6025 or Camp Director Matt “Spinner” Allen, mattallen@scbaptist.org; 864-878-6025.

As always, if your unit serves in a non-disaster project, please let the state office know of your activity so we can provide the secondary accident insurance, credit your volunteers with a deployment, and celebrate your service!
