Chainsaw Units Now Needed – Hurricane Idalia

Although our part in the mud-out work has ended, there is still chainsaw work to be done in Florida as clean-up from Hurricane Idalia continues. SC Baptist DR Chainsaw units are needed through October 14 in Live Oak, FL. Units and volunteers for chainsaw should plan to go ASAP, with each unit to include a chaplain.

The recovery site in Live Oak is being run by North Carolina DR, who has asked for additional teams. The state DR director tells us that there are “lots of big jobs” remaining. Live Oak is an “old Florida” area in the northern part of the state with many large oaks and pines, approximately a 6-7 hour drive from South Carolina.

Chainsaw Unit Leaders: contact your team members, determine what dates you can serve, and let the state office know.

Volunteers: contact your Unit Leader and prepare to go. Those not connected to a unit can contact the state office for assistance: sueharmon@scbaptist.org or 803-227-6149.

Those unable to deploy can support with their prayers and giving.

Pray for:
* Enough teams to be able to complete the hundreds of remaining job requests.
* The teams to have many opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel with those affected by the hurricane.
* The homeowners who are still living with damaged homes and debris-filled yards.
* Safety for the volunteers as they work with chainsaws and equipment in the heat and humidity.
