A team of five leaders from four SCBC churches traveled to San Diego, CA in April for the first Send Team Vision trip.  The team spent time with church planters learning about communities they are reaching and churches starting in Southern California.  They spent time exploring the city and experiencing the seaside communities identified for church planting. 

For Heath Caldwell and James Giddens from Crowfield Baptist Church in Goose Creek it was an impactful experience.  Caldwell, the missions pastor at Crowfield, expressed his excitement after hearing the testimonies of church planters in San Diego. “I knew this area was diverse, but had no idea the lostness and lack of evangelical churches was so great.” he remarked.

For Annie Laurie Atkins, missions coordinator at Lake Bowen Baptist Church, the experience was eye opening.  After several ministry leaders in her church took part in the Spouse Care Retreat in San Diego last year, Annie Laurie was hopeful about finding mission partners for her church on this trip.

Another vision trip to the area is planned for September 23-27.
