An Update from McDowell, Kentucky

The work of South Carolina Baptist Disaster Relief in McDowell, Kentucky in the first week-and-a-half resulted in 17 completed mud-out jobs, dozens of ministry contacts, and two salvation decisions! The ministry continues as we have a change-over in personnel each weekend and fresh mud-out teams begin work every Monday until the end of the month. Scheduled mud-Out teams: Aug. 15 – Edgefield Assoc, Kershaw Assoc., and North Conway Baptist Church. Aug. 21 – Laurens Assoc and Brookwood (Simpsonville) Baptist Church. Aug. 28 – Round Hill Baptist Church, Lexington.

The two salvation decisions were by people with whom team members struck up a conversation as the team worked. One was an 11-year-old boy, led to the Lord by one of the Beaverdam Assoc. team members. The other was the 19 yr-old boyfriend of the homeowner’s daughter at a house where the Greenville team was working. Both were connected with the pastor at the local Baptist church for follow-up and discipline.
