ALERT for Tornado Response

ALERT for Chainsaw units with Chaplain and Assessors: as multiple areas of South Carolina were hit by tornadoes or high winds, there are many opportunities to serve. Unit Leaders not already assigned to a site are asked to contact the DOC (Disaster Operations Center) at the state convention office for an assignment. Volunteers, please contact your unit leader with your availability.

Because of Covid-19, units are being deployed to sites no more than a couple of hours’ drive away, so that they can return home at night. No group housing or meals are being provided. Driving separately, wearing face masks, and maintaining 6 ft. of separation while working are standard practice for this response. Consider bringing a team member whose main role is sanitizing shared equipment, reminding team members of distance, etc.

We realize that many of our volunteers fall into the high-risk category for Covid-19, and urge those folks to stay at home and support through your prayers for this response.

At this time, the following areas have assessors or chainsaw units serving or scheduled to serve, or have asked for assistance: Seneca, Marietta, Pickens, Gaffney, Prosperity, Williston, Monck’s Corner, Springfield, Nixville-Estill area, Cottageville, Hartville, Bennetsville-Wallace area.
