An ethno-linguistic group with a common self-identity that is shared by the various members. For strategic purposes it is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance.

Unreached people groups are unengaged (UUPG) when there is no church planting strategy, consistent with evangelical faith and practice, under way. Gathering believers and planting churches are the keys to establishing an effective and multiplying presence among these people groups.

This prayer guide is a way to pray for unreached people groups around the world weekly personally and with other believers. Many of the  materials used in this guide have been provided by the IMB Prayer Office. Read an excerpt from them below: 

Spreading the Gospel to every people group is an impossible take that can only be accomplished by the all-powerful God. We completely rely on Him in prayer, and we need you and people in your church to pray too. Intercessory prayer is an essential part of completing the Great Commission, and it is available to every believer.

Join us in prayer for these unreached people groups asking God to impact these four areas: Lostness, Gospel Advance, the Global Church and Missionary Presence.

Anywhere that your church gathers to pray or emphasizes prayer in your ministries. Here are some possible examples:

• Weekly Worship Service (possibly as a mission moment during the offertory prayer)

• Student/Youth Ministry Worship or Sunday School class
• WMU meetings
• Children’s mission groups
• Adult small groups
• Church e-newsletters
