Any student of a South Carolina Baptist Church.   Further requirements will be determined by each Certified Sending Partner.  The goal of SC:Go Students is to provide mission projects for students that do not otherwise have a similar opportunity through their own local church. 

 This is determined by the specific project.  The overseas opportunities are tailored for high school students.  The domestic projects may be for a larger range of ages. 

This is determined by the specific project.  For each trip, there will be a “ground cost” listed that is fixed.  Then there will be a “airfare range” since airfare is difficult to predict at the time of booking.

All plans and precautions are being made for the safest possible experience.   Locations are monitored by Certified  Sending Partner, local missionaries, church planters, and ministry leaders. Training is provided for all leaders and team members. Each participant is covered by travel insurance in the event of an unexpected emergency. All participants fill out applications, provide references, and are vetted to help insure the right people are on the trip. Students are supervised at all times. An appropriate adult to student ratio is required for all projects.  SCGo Student Projects are not on the edge of the missions frontier where there is significant risk due to outside factors.  However, there are always inherent risks associated with traveling similar to going on a family vacation abroad.

Yes, certainly.  This should be your first option.   SCGo Student trips are designed for students who do not have a similar opportunity within their own local church.  If your church does not have the capacity to do short term mission trips or maybe does not go overseas, we would encourage you to apply for SCGo Students. 

Yes, these trips are open to any South Carolina Baptist student, no matter where they live in the state.   The Certified Sending Partner can give you information online.  However, you may be asked to travel to the host location for a training, usually once.  You will need to make travel arrangements to leave with the team from wherever they begin their trip. 

No.  No attempt will be made to lure a student to leave their church for another church.  Our Certified Sending Partners are Kingdom minded leaders, not sheep stealers.  Students will instead be encouraged to go back to their church and start an effort to lead their own mission project.   

If you are going on an international trip, you should apply for a passport as soon as possible.  Sometimes this takes 2-3 months to accomplish.  If you have a passport, but it is set to expire within 6 months of your travel dates, you should renew it. 

This is a veteran mission leader that has been vetted by the South Carolina Baptist Convention Send team to be experienced, competent, safe and responsible.  They have been background checked and can train others in safety and security measures for mission trips.  They have a passion for students and exemplify the best in mission leadership in our state.  In essence, we would entrust our own children to them for this trip.  

This is determined by the Certified Sending Partner.   For many trips, the host church will have the majority of the “spots” and will open up a handful of spots for students at large to join them.    If a church has four or more students who would like to go on the same trip, please have your student pastor contact charlieswain@scbaptist.org about how to host a trip. 

The trips are intended for middle or high school aged students, although the Certified Sending Partner may want to include a College student.   We would encourage you to look at the BCMGo opportunities at www.scbaptist.org/bcmgo 

No.  There is no application fee.  However, once you are approved by the Certified Sending Partner, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your spot on the trip.  

If for any reason you drop out, the refund will be determined by the Certified Sending Partner.  If funds have already been used, they may be non-refundable.  

That depends on the situation.  Most likely yes, your funds will be returned.  If the trip does not happen due to unforeseen circumstances, your Certified Sending Partner will communicate with each family how to move forward.
