The Schafer Family

Justin and Riley Schafer and their son Ricky moved to Southeast Asia  this spring. Currently, their ministry is primarily  language and culture acquisition. In addition, they are looking for  believing national partners, and are both meeting weekly with locals who are interested in studying the Bible. Justin and Riley are about halfway through their language study for this term. As they look ahead, they face decisions related to the location of their future ministry – stay where they are, where they already have relationships, or move to a smaller team in a new city. Both teams have strong, Godly leadership and are seeing fruit. The people in their country are lost, serving Buddha and worshipping idols. Spirtual darkness is heavy, but God is working and bringing people to the light.

Prayer Requests:

•  Pray for Justin and Riley to be diligent to study, practice with locals, and review what they’ve learned. Pray that God grants them recall and fluency. Pray for discerning hearts as they learn to ask questions and dig deeper to truly understand the hearts of this people.

•  Pray for the Schafer’s upcoming  decision. Pray that God leads them to where He wants them long-term. Pray that He opens and closes doors and makes His will obvious to them.

• Pray for Ricky as he adjusts to this new life. Pray that he adapts to the food, the sleep schedule, and the new language, but most of all that his parents share their ministry with him and he desires his own relationship with God.
