SCBMA Refocus Proposal 2025

Often the most challenging contemporary circumstances become the launching pad for the most inspiring future opportunities. After years of prayer, research, and planning, the SCBMA and SCBaptist Convention Boards are unanimously recommending the sale of the SCBMA’s two retirement communities (Martha Franks in Laurens, SC, and Bethea in Darlington, SC) and a 12-month period of strategic planning to reimagine the ministry model.

The motion passed after it was brought to messengers on Nov. 11, 2025, at the annual meeting held at Taylors First Baptist Church. While this decision is extremely difficult, the opportunity for a more sustainable, more effective, and more comprehensive senior adult ministry is in view.
