Taabwa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Taabwa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Taabwa (tah-BWAH) live near Moba on the shores of Lake Tanganyika (tang-guh-NYEE-kuh). Because of rebel fighting in their area, they have been the victims of
many hardships. Many Taabwa fled and lived in refugee camps in Zambia but have since been relocated back to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Fear of violence and another war looms heavy over them. Local authorities gave two IMB missionaries permission to occasionally enter the area to provide medical care. They praise God for this opportunity to help the Taabwa amid such chaos but know that these people need a consistent gospel witness. Most Taabwa are Roman Catholics, trying to earn righteousness before God through their good works.
