God has been moving powerfully among the Mixtec people of Guerrero, Mexico. For years, believers worldwide have prayed for these people who resisted the gospel, mixing Catholicism with the animism of their ancestors and relying on witch doctors for help. With a lot of prayer, God began to soften their hearts. In 2018, He provided opportunities for a team to share the gospel among Mixtecs through medical clinics, language classes, and other ministries. Then in 2022, He opened the door for team members to move into a Mixtec community. That year, the first Mixtec believers in the town were baptized. The Word spread rapidly, and by late 2022,
15 Mixtecs had been baptized and were being discipled. This group became a new church, which was officially planted in 2023. Now, there are 40 new believers, a direct result of years of faithful prayer. This story of the Mixtecs is a powerful reminder of how God responds to the persistent prayers of His people.
