In 2008, LifeWay Christian Resources launches the Worship Project, which includes the Baptist Hymnal, The Worship Hymnal and LifeWayWorship.com. These three components of the Worship Project are a new effort on LifeWay’s part to provide the ultimate worship resource for a new generation of churches! LifeWayWorship.com is a ground-breaking online worship planning resource that will give worship leaders and pastors a convenient way to research and assemble the elements of their worship services. In partnership with Baptist State Conventions, LifeWay | Worship is launching Worship Project Training Events to equip churches to use this online worship-planning tool.

The State Music Leaders in Baptist State Conventions have been an essential part of the development of the Worship Project from its early stages. “The Worship Project,” according to Ken Lasater of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, “will help restore a common worship experience back to Southern Baptist life. While it assists each Southern Baptist church to select and use whatever style or taste of worship they prefer, worship planners from church to church will be speaking the same language and using the same tools all around the globe.”

 

Worship Project Training Events are the next step to connecting pastors, worship leaders and lay leaders with this innovative resource. LifeWay | Worship and the State Music Leaders are working hand-in-hand to launch between 25 and 30 training events across the country from June 2008 to May 2009. In addition, Worship Project Training will be a major part of the LifeWay Worship Leadership Conferences at Ridgecrest and Glorieta in 2008.

 

The training events will equip worship planners in three ways. First, participants will see an overview of the Baptist Hymnal, The Worship Hymnal and accompanying products as well as the print, media, and digital downloads available online. Second, hands-on training will enable participants to work through the basic functions of LifeWayWorship.com?plan a worship service, reconfigure music using the SongMap™ feature, and download print, audio, and media files. Third, the training events will provide an ethical perspective of what copyright law permits and prohibits and how it impacts the work of music ministry as it relates to the Worship Project.
