Who Are the Singing Churchmen?
The South Carolina Baptist Singing Churchmen is a member-supported group that has been in existence for more than 30 years. They first met together to sing for state convention meetings. In the 70's they began giving concerts in local churches and on other occasions. Presently, the group sings about 5 local church concerts and another 2 to 3 special programs per year. The group has sung for Church Music Leadership Week at Ridgecrest and for the American Choral Directors Association. They have also made several mission trips which most recently include Taiwan, Romania and West Virginia. Plans are in the works now for a 2005 trip to India. Missions offerings received at local church concerts and sales of CDs and tapes have contributed to special music mission projects in South Carolina and around the world.
