SeraphSong… Who We Are

Members of SeraphSong represent dedication to the cause of Christ in ministry through music. Their purpose is to glorify God by providing choral experiences of excellence that encourage worship, provide leadership training and offer fellowship among women in ministry in South Carolina Baptist churches. An added benefit of the group is the professional camaraderie that is shared among women in music ministry.

SeraphSong: The Singing Women of South Carolina, debuted at the Woman’s Missionary Union Annual Meeting in 2005. Through the vision of Jim Gill and a handful of female church musicians, this group was formed in order to provide choral experiences of excellence that encourage worship, provide leadership training and offer fellowship and prayer support among women in ministry in South Carolina Baptist churches. The group has shared in ministry in various venues including churches, prisons, nursing homes, and community events.

This choral group, for female church musicians, will be accepting new members for the 2009-2010 season. This ministry is sponsored by the South Carolina Baptist Convention Worship & Music Office.

What We Do

Concerts are scheduled several times a year in churches and other venues. Love offerings received at church concerts are used to fund a variety of mission endeavors. Previous projects include contributions to Goodman Correctional Institution, Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution, Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and the Bethea Baptist Ministries.

Officers are elected by the membership every two years. Officers handle the administrative matters and scheduling for SeraphSong, and are responsible for selecting a director and accompanist.

Members are expected to learn their music, participate in concerts and rehearsals and notify the appropriate officers when unable to attend. Members are considered active when they participate in at least 50% of rehearsals and concerts.
