Pray with others who also have a heart to reach and disciple women.
Communicate your vision for WEM to your pastor and staff.
Define a purpose statement for WEM that is aligned with the overall purpose and vision of your church. As ministry begins, you must clearly define and document God’s calling on this ministry. This purpose statement will serve as a guide in setting priorities for the ministry.
Assess the needs of the women in your church by surveys and interviews. Also, determine ways in which individuals would like to participate in WEM.
Establish priorities based on your assessment and your purpose statement. Be reasonable and start small. Plan for growth and always be willing to adjust, as needs change.
Select facilities that will create an inviting atmosphere so women will want to return again.
Procure childcare and be sure to abide by the church’s child protection policy.
Promote the ministry through newsletters, bulletins, fliers, posters, direct mailings, announcements, personal contacts, etc.
Launch the ministry with a special event.
Evaluate all aspects of the ministry on an ongoing basis. Variety and flexibility are vital for the women in your church and your community.
