12-Week Schedule for Bible Drill
by Caroline Perez
With busy church schedules and busy families, some Bible Drill programs kick off a new cycle in January. This abbreviated schedule gives children about 12 weeks to learn the material before the church drill in spring. Here is a simple plan for including all the verses, key passages, and books in a short amount of time. Attention... Present Bibles... Start...!
Make Learning Fun!
Write on index cards the Scripture references for the verses the children are learning. Seat the children in a circle, distribute the cards, and have them pass the cards around (face down) while music plays. Stop the music and call out a reference. Children turn their cards over, and the child holding that reference quotes the verse. Continue play for several rounds.
"Milk and Cookies"
Purchase coordinating cards (at teacher supply store) such as cookies and glasses of milk. Write the key passage title on the milk and key passage reference on the cookie. Have children match the pairs and find the passage in the Bible. For an extra treat, serve cookies and milk!
