Many people place a very high priority on money. They spend a lot of their lives acquiring it, managing it, and thinking about it. Consequently, it is not surprising that the Bible has a lot to say about money. Scripture is explicit regarding God's ownership of all things and our management of them. Money and God's Word is a new stewardship Bible study which may be used in a variety of settings. Student and leader's guide are available in one four color booklet.

GOD'S ROLE: CREATOR/OWNER
"For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." Colossians 1:16 (NIV)

OUR ROLE: MANAGER
Our role is an expression of God's trust and confidence in us. "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures who move along the ground.' " Genesis 1:26

The Bible specifically addresses earning, spending, saving and giving and reminds us in numerous places of what constitutes true security and contentment.

Earning
Genesis 2:15 states that God put man "in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." God intended for man to work, to earn his own way.

Spending
Proverbs 21:5 notes: "Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough." People don't intentionally get into out-of-control debt. It happens because of poor spending habits.

Saving
"Wise people live in wealth and luxury, but stupid people spend their money as fast as they get it." Proverbs 21:20 
A prudent person understands that "he who gathers money little by little makes it grow." Proverbs 13:11

Giving
The determining factor in whether we give to the Lord and others is a matter of our commitment to our needs and wants versus commitment to God and God's word. Giving is not a financial issue. It is a spiritual issue.
