Wow! Where do you go to find answers when your retirement account has lost 40 percent of its value since October 2007? The answers are found in God’s Word . . . the Bible. When we only focus on the losses we have experienced in our retirement account, do we really have a kingdom focus? I think not! It is hard during these tough economic times not to lose sight, but we must not. As Job realized when he lost everything he had, he stated, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (NKJV). You and I need to bless and praise the Lord even in these difficult economic times. The Lord is the One who gave us the funds to invest in the first place!
A few things you need to think about as your look at your investments:
- Don’t panic when the market has short term ups and downs.
- Remember your long-term investment objective.
- Remember who is ultimately in control!
