Due to the high volume of calls to assist the victims of hurricane Katrina, the SC Disaster Relief group is asking that only trained volunteers call to be placed on a team traveling to the region.
- Trained doctors and nurses who wish to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina should call Baptist Medical at (210) 283-5123.
- Currently, South Carolina has over 2400 Disaster Relief volunteers in the state on 57 teams. Five teams are in the Gulf Coast region. According to Disaster Relief guidelines by the North American Mission Board, only trained volunteers are allowed to travel to disaster areas.
The next training for SC Disaster Relief volunteers is Oct. 13 - 14 and Oct. 14 -15 at White Oak Conference center. (Click Here for more information.) The Oct. 14-15 training is now closed. Space is still available Oct. 13 - 14.
