About 85 Hispanic youth from Georgia, Tennessee and North and South Carolina gathered at Camp La Vida for the first Hispanic Youth Conference.

The three-day event, held July 2-4, 2004, was all about evangelism and missions as the young people experienced worship services and learned how to reach their friends for Christ.  For recreation during the conference, youth used the lake and pool on campus at Camp La Vida.

According to Ali Velasquez, church starting strategist at SC Baptist Convention, the conference offered Hispanic youth good music, good food and a good time.

“The young people are hungry to do something in the future as they want to prepare and serve Christ,” he added.

Plans are already in the works for the 2005 Hispanic Youth Conference.  For more information about Hispanic ministry, contact the Church Multiplication Group, SC Baptist Convention, at (800) 723-7242 (in SC) or (803) 765-0030, extension 5822.
