Columbia, SC -
The Pastoral Ministries Office of the South Carolina Baptist Convention is currently working with a total of 700 churches and ministers who have activated accounts through the online referral database.
Launched last November, the user-friendly resource assists ministers who are willing to move to new ministry locations and South Carolina Baptist churches looking to fill ministry positions.
The process is easy and confidential – churches or ministers access the resume database through the convention website. The Pastoral Ministries Office handles the submissions and requests, but a church or minister may access or update their own information or request that it be deleted at any time.
Sonny Holmes, director of Pastoral Ministries, described the process as “convenient” for ministers who may “express willingness to God and activate or de-activate their information based on how he or she feels God is working in their life.”
Holmes reported that currently there are 240 churches with active requests and 489 active resumes online from ministers, pastors and/or staff members.
First Church in Manning is one such church with an active account in the online system. “Using this resource has been very helpful to our church’s search committee. The convention provided us with 12 resumes of potential candidates that met some further criteria for our selection process,” said Sharon Purvis, committee chair.
To access the resume database, go to the South Carolina Baptist Convention website at www.scbaptist.org then click the “Resume” tab on the home page.
