Men's "Salt and Light" conference to be held Jan. 17
The annual Men’s Ministries Equipping Conference, also known as the ‘Salt and Light’ conference, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan.17, 2004 from 8:45 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Lexington Baptist Church, Lexington.
Under the theme “Christ in Men, the Hope of the World,” the conference purpose is to challenge and motivate men to live for Christ in a lost world. The conference will equip men to operate as a witness in many different situations through the 40 breakout sessions offered—from motorcycle ministry to sports outreach to auto restoration.
According to Bobby Jackson, director of the Men’s Ministries Group, SCBC, the conference will help men strengthen their walk with God. “Hopefully many of the men who attend the conference will leave with a new vision and excitement about men's ministry and how they can begin to implement some of this information in their men's ministries,” he said.
The guest speaker will be Ron Barker, founder and senior pastor of Lanier Hills Church near Atlanta, Ga. Barker, who is a Vietnam veteran, has been the speaker at more than 20 state evangelism conferences and a professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and North Georgia College.
Worship will be lead by the Lexington Baptist Church praise team, which uses contemporary and traditional musical elements to create a blended worship style.
“We hope the conference will help men strengthen their walk with God through inspirational music, motivational testimonies and messages, and multiple resource conferences,” Jackson said. Registration is $15 by mail until Jan. 7, and includes lunch.
Registration postmarked after that date and at the door is $20 and will not include lunch.
