“Deacons Ministering as Servants” is the theme of a training event sponsored by the South Carolina Baptist Convention to be held Oct. 24-25, 2003 at White Oak Conference Center. All deacons, their spouses and church pastors are invited to attend.
The conference will begin Friday, Oct. 24, with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by an evening training session. The conference continues Saturday, Oct. 25, with two morning sessions and concludes with lunch.
Participants may choose to attend two of six small group training sessions on topics such as the role of deacons in the church and beyond, strengthening families, ministering to ministers, identifying ministry strategies, public affairs and understanding Baptist polity. “Help for Helpmates,” a two-part session for spouses, will be offered Saturday morning.
The conference registration is $21.00, which includes dinner Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Lodging fees per person are $24.00 for a double occupancy room, and $32.00 for a single occupancy room. A $27.00 per person deposit is due at the time of registration, with the remaining balance (per choice of room) due on arrival.
