2008 Dates to Remember:

September 12-14 - Fall Rally, Lakewood Campground, Myrtle Beach - This will be a special time as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of SC COM.  To commemorate our 30th year, we want to set a goal of 30 rigs for this rally.  We must have at least 25 rigs in order to have the use of the meeting room free.  Make your reservations NOW!  Contact Mary Kate Allen at Lakewood by calling 843-447-7701 or 800-258-8309 and tell her you are with SCCOM Group Camp #11533.  You may want to plan to come earlier or stay longer to participate in missions opportunities such as the Seafarers-Wayfarers Center in Georgetown.  Also, you may want to make plans to enjoy any one of the many shows or tours while you are in the area.  You will be ereceiving mroe infromation abouth the Fall Rally as it draws nearer but right now, MAKE THOSE RESERVATIONS.

Updates:

  • The church construction project at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Windsor, SC is ongoing.  Contact Joe Nichols (wilmaandjoe@earthlink.net) for information about this project.
  • If you are planning to go to the National Rally, you may be interested in stopping in Knowxville to help build a church - Walnut Grove Baptist Church.  They have six hookups at the church and there is a campground approximately 2 miles from the church where you can camp free.  Several of the SCCOM will be there to start work on June 9 and then go to the rally from there.  You could be working with rafters, sheetrock, mudding, just to name a few.  Contact person at Walnut Grove is Joe Little, 423-337-5301 or 423-716-7807.
  • A workweek is being planned for the last week of July or the first week of August at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Aiken.  This has ben an ongoing project for 5 years.  Help is needed to put on the finishing touches.

  • Lanelle Chapman is heading up a block party at Bellridge Baptist Church, Belevedere, SC on October 27.  The event begins at 5:00 pm.  Volunteers are needed to do face painting, balloon sculpting, clowning and evangelism.  Contact Lanelle (lanellechapman@juno.com) for more information.
  • Ongoing needs exist at 5th Street Baptist Church in the Florida Keys.  A group is going in November to finish up the work needed at the Childcare Center.  A house is available if anyone wants to stay there.  RV hookups are also available.  Work needed includes electrical, plumbing, sheetrock finishing, painting and tile work.  They hope to rebuild steps outside the church as well.
  • The SC COM group will be going to Ridgecrest November 5-9.
  • Work is still ongoing in Pascagoula, MS.  Possible dates in November will be forthcoming.
  • A group will be going to Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, SC to decorate the campus for Christmas during the week of November 19-20.

COM will not cover members going on mission projects in the event of an accident.  Members should carry their own insurance.  For supplementary accident insurance from Adams and Associates call 803-758-1400 or e-mail aai@aaintl.com and request travel insurance for North American mission groups.
