Jody stopped by Harbour Lake Baptist Church early one morning to see if she could get some food and if we could put her up in a motel for one night. Her story was very sad. She was a battered wife and needed to move from her home in another state quickly. We helped her with food and a night in a motel. The next day we helped her with meals and to find a women's shelter where she could stay at no cost.
She has a job working at home using her computer but could not work from the women's shelter so our church provided office space for her and she is doing well with her job. She started looking for a permanent home and found an apartment nearby. She has joined our church and helps around here during the week with odd jobs. She tithes and has returned all funds for her assistance.
God provided our church with food for our pantry and funds for our benevolence program and we praise Him for His love and grace daily.
Update: We want to share with you how God has blessed our church with His gift of Jody. She joined our choir and serves on a weekly cleaning crew. She attends church every time the doors are open and works with our children's ministry. When not assisting in other ministries, she is attending our pastor's Sunday School class.
I truly think God works in mysterious ways that He would send someone in trouble to His house so that she would get the help she needed and then turn around and return all that was given to her, even the love we gave her she is giving back as well.
Jesus gives us the means to help His people and we have given food to 527 people during the first nine months of 2011. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!
