Harvey Efforts Shift to Rebuild in TX; RebuildSC Continues

 In Disaster Relief

The turn of the calendar to 2018 finds South Carolina Disaster Relief volunteers continuing to give attention to the Hurricane Harvey response, which is now shifting to rebuild. A team of nearly 30 volunteers is preparing to serve Jan. 21-29 doing mud-out and rebuild in Texas. The team will be made up of volunteers from various areas of SC, working out of the Pine Level Baptist Church (Savannah River Association) recovery unit. The team will serve in Orange, Tx which is on the Louisiana border.

Meanwhile, here in our own state, RebuildSC continues in the Marion County area, repairing homes that were damaged by the 2015 flood and 2016’s Hurricane Matthew. Teams of volunteers are needed throughout this winter and spring, to help needy homeowners have a place to live that is free of mold and damage. Jack McCormick is the coordinator for RebuildSC, with administrative assistance from Sharon Fields-McCormick and Melanie Collins. To schedule a group from your church to serve for a day, a weekend, or a week, call 843-582-7564 to talk with Jack, Sharon, or Melanie. Volunteers do not have to be DR-trained in order to serve in RebuildSC.
