Clean-Up in Laurens & Fountain Inn

IN STATE NEED 06/25/09:

Laurens and Fountain Inn, South Carolina tornado
Chainsaw Units are in need for these areas.  A tornado ripped through Laurens and Fountain Inn last week.  We have been doing the clean-up (chainsaw) in theses areas since that time.  The Public Works Department is asking us to help them finish the clean-up efforts.  So, we are going to do a CLEAN SWEEP this Saturday, June 27, 2009 to help the area residents finish the clean-up process.  I already have seven (7) jobs in my hands not including those that the Public Works Department has for us to do.  They are assessing approximately 40 jobs that they have identified for our teams to do.  I am looking for 8 to 10 teams to help us this weekend.

If you would like more information, please call the South Carolina Baptist Disaster Relief (SCBDR), Disaster Operations Center (DOC) at (800) 723-7243 ext. 3400 or at (803) 765-0030 ext. 3400.

Last weekend Wayne Fosters group had handled Cornwell by themselves.  They are continuing the clean-up today.  Also several teams volunteered to assist us in the midst of VBS, mission trips, and vacations.  Thanks  to all those who helped out last weekend and for those that are willing to help us finish this weekend.

OUT-OF-STATE NEEDS:
None at this time.

 OVERSEAS NEED:
There is a need for volunteers to Pakistan.  You would be working with national Christian partners possibly locating materials, loading trucks, praying with workers, leading in Bible study, etc.  It is really HOT, highs typically 105 degrees, so those interested in going my be of EXCELLENT health with no chronic medical problems.  Those responding to this must feel strongly led to go.  We understand the cost of travel and the security issues right now are difficult for everyone, and we are really grateful for the prayers and relief funds given by our Southern Baptist brothers and sisters.  If you are interested and wish to get more information, please call Gloria Shull at (800) 723-7242 ext. 3800 or at (803) 765-0030 ext. 3800.
