 Church Weekday Education Workshop

Church Weekday Education is the term used to describe the ongoing education ministry to children and their families that is held on the church campus during daytime hours, Monday through Friday. It is a ministry done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and focuses on the whole-child.

There are several types of CWE ministries:

    • Half day preschool
    • Parent’s Morning Out
    • Full Day Child Care
    • After School Care (for elementary age)

Each summer the South Carolina Baptist Convention hosts a training workshop for teachers and administrators of Church Weekday programs. Held at White Oak Conference Center, the workshop attracts programs from SCBC churches, other denominations, other states, and even programs that are not church-based.

The CWE Workshop is faith-based and focuses on the whole teacher, just as Church Weekday programs focus on the whole child. Classes are offered so that teachers may grow “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52). The workshop offers both new and experienced CWE teachers an opportunity to enhance their skills in categories such as administrative, spiritual development, personal, and general education.

Attending the CWE Workshop helps church programs to earn their annual training credits. Weekday programs that are licensed or registered with the state’s Department of Social Services must meet yearly training requirements for their teachers and administrators. Because the convention’s workshop is registered through the Center for Child Care Career Development and works in cooperation with DSS guidelines for training, those who attend can earn up to the full number of credit hours needed by teachers.

Many children and families’ lives are touched each day by Church Weekday teachers across our state. The ministry of church weekday education can help draw those families to Experience Kingdom Living.
