How to Figure Cooperative Program and Associational Percentages
How does the church determine the percentage to be given through the Cooperative Program and to the Association?
Percentage giving for world missions through the Cooperative Program is the ideal plan to be used by Southern Baptist churches. Members feel that this is the best way to share proportionately and increase mission giving as God blesses their churches. The following steps are based on a church giving 15% through the Cooperative Program and 5% to the association.
| Step 1: Anticipated cost of all budgeted ministries other than the Cooperative Program and the association. |
$100,000
|
| Step 2: Total percent church has determined to give through the Cooperative Program (15%) plus the association (5%) |
20%
|
| Step 3: Percent of the total budget for all budgeted ministries excluding Cooperative Program and the association (100%-20%) |
80%
|
| Step 4: Total dollar amount of the whole budget including Cooperative Program and association ($100,000/.80) |
$125,000
|
| Step 5: Dollar amount budgeted for Cooperative Program ($125,000 x .15) |
$18,750
|
| Step 6: Dollar amount budgeted for association ($125,000 x .05) |
$6,250
|
Step 7: Recheck your figures by adding Step 1 + Step 5 + Step 6
Other budgeted ministries
Cooperative Program (15%)
Association (5%) |
$100,000
$18,750
$6,250
|
| Total Budget |
$125,000

Note: This worksheet is provided as information on figuring the percentage to be given to the Cooperative Program and the Association after you have completed other areas in a planned budget.
The South Carolina Baptist Convention does NOT designate the percentage to be given.
