Meet Your Church Planters: Bob Norman
Pebble Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, SC
Bob Norman’s journey to church planting is a bit different than most. For one, Pebble Creek existed as a church before he arrived there, but everything was sharply declining and they wanted to restart the church. After preaching there several times, God called him to this challenge and he started as the senior pastor there in January 2011.
Bob has been happily married to Linda Carol since December 20th, 1969, and together they have two grown children and five grandchildren. They have been challenged while serving at Pebble Creek to be patient and know that the Lord is faithful—that He will lead and grow them in His time. They have been well-accepted coming into the family of Pebble Creek, and the sweet spirit and generous nature of the people have made them feel very welcome.
The restart of the church’s vision and mission has been encouraging because the core group has graciously opened their hearts and checkbooks with an absolute commitment and passion to reach the community for Christ. The results from their efforts have been inspiring in even just a few short months. Close to 40 people have joined their church, and attendance averaged 60-70 people during the summer months. That’s over a 125% growth in less than seven months!
Bob’s prayer for the church is that they will remain faithful to God in everything they do in this restart, and for spiritual wisdom and discernment in decision making. They want to glorify and honor God in all that they do. He is thankful for generous people that have made this restart a joy, as well as having lots of visitors. He praises God for the power of the Holy Spirit at work in their church family, and for His promise to never leave them or forsake them.
Please pray for Bob and the people of Pebble Creek Baptist as they continue to pursue this journey of re-planting their church family and staying faithful to the Lord.
