Why do our preschool teachers no longer sing the songs that I learned as a youngster, like "This Little Light of Mine" or "The B-I-B-L-E"?
Songs used with preschoolers should teach Bible truths on a level the child can understand. Young ones are literal-minded, concrete thinkers. They will not grasp the symbolic meaning of letting their light shine. When they hear “I stand alone on the Word of God,” they may think that means to put a Bible on the floor and stand on it. Singing and musical activities are teaching methods that should communicate biblical concepts and truths that are appropriate for the age group to learn.
