How do you teach a child who is a "physical learner"?

This child likes to move, wiggle, manipulate objects, and use his entire body. Teachers can encourage learning by:

  • Making group time varied, so there are not prolonged periods of sitting
  • Providing open space in the classroom to allow for physical movement
  • Using hands-on activities, such as finger painting, working a large floor puzzle, or role-playing a bible person’s actions
  • Creating opportunities for simple active games
  • Planning various activities that require movement, such as squatting, reaching, marching, or moving to a different area of the room
