How do you teach a child who is a "natural learner"?

This child is sensitive to God’s creation, enjoys caring for plants and pets, likes to collect natural materials such as rocks and leaves, and likes to be outdoors. Teachers can encourage learning by:

  • Providing nature items in the classroom for preschoolers to see and touch
  • Growing a non-toxic potted plant in the classroom and encouraging children to help water it each week
  • Changing nature items regularly in the classroom
  • Using natural materials in learning activities – children can gather real twigs and rocks to make a tabletop scene of a Bible story
  • Providing opportunities for outdoor learning – go on a nature walk or tell the Bible story under a tree
