RACING SPECIFICATIONS
WIDTH
Overall width shall not exceed 2 3/4 inches.
LENGTH
Overall length shall not exceed 7 inches.
WEIGHT
Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces. No loose material of any kind is permitted in or on the car. The car may be hollowed out and built up to the maximum weight by the addition of wood or metal only, provided it is securely built into the body or chassis.
SPRINGING
The car shall not ride on any type springs.
DETAILS
Details such as steering wheel, decals, painting or interior detail are permissible so long as these details do not cause the car to exceed maximum weight.
ATTACHMENTS
The car must be free-wheeling with no starting devices.
WHEELS
Only those wheels that come with the car kit may be used. The only sanding, grinding, lathing, or any other reduction method allowed to wheels is to be done for the sole purpose of removing casting marks. ANY OTHER REDUCTION TO ANY WHEEL OR PART THEREOF WILL CAUSE DISQUALIFICATION. Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
RACE PROCEDURES
HEATS
All races will be run on a system of elimination by heats. Timing of contestants shall have no bearing in determining heat or final winner.
STARTING
Cars must start by gravity from a standstill, at a starting line on the track, without any help. No pushing allowed.
FINISH
The car whose nose is first over the finish line is the winner.
LEAVING TRACK
If any car leaves the track on the first run, there is no contest. Race will be re-run. If the same car leaves the track on the second run, contestant automatically loses.
JUDGES
An unbias judge from a non-connected church, associational person, or outside source is recommended. Close races are difficult to judge by eye. Contested races and reruns use up time and often do not solve the hard feelings. With a unbias judge there are no disputes. Your durby runs smoothly and on time.
