Turning My Class Inside Out

Use the following ideas as discussion starters to develop intentional strategies for connecting with unchurched people in your community.  Remember to develop some type of “connecting card" that points people to information about your church.  Use an attention getter such as “Anywhere Baptist Church cares about families. “ Use your imagination to adapt and add your own ideas!

Phone Card Fiasco - Provide pre-paid phone cards for persons who need to make long distance calls (emergency or other unusual circumstances).

Hotel Care Crew - Provide homemade baked goods or other special gifts to hotel staff who often receive only complaints.

Crazy Cart Wheels - Offer to return shopping carts to the store for shoppers—especially shoppers with small children or those who may be disabled.

Umbrella Buddies - Use large golf umbrellas to accompany persons from the building to their cars.  Focus on places where people have their hands full (grocery store).

Gas Busters - Provide discount coupons redeemable for a set amount of gas.  Or offer to provide $x to help pay for the rising price of gas.

Crafty Christians - Provide free how-to clinics at the local department or craft store.  Consider project packets for parent gifts at Christmas.

Praying Neighbors - Pray through your neighborhood by knocking on doors, providing a small treat, and finding out how to pray more specifically for your neighbors.

Remember to add your own ideas based on where you already find people in your community.  Consider planning at least four servant evangelism activities in your church, class, or other small group this year.
