INTERPRETIVE MOVEMENT
- Movement for Non-Movers Series (God Rods/EASTER) – Jeff Smith
Use of God Rods (dowel rod sticks) to interpret lyrics to traditional EASTER HYMNS. This class will create choreography in small group stations that can easily be transferred to your Easter services. Purposeful movement to powerful music with appropriate choreography!
- Movement for Non-Movers (Tableaus) – Jeff Smith
This ancient (and easy) movement technique is a great way to teach physicality to beginning drama students and stage basic Bible stories in a creative and highly effective way. This class will share a broad overview of performance concepts that pertain to the art form, images and pictures from one of the most elaborately staged Passion Plays completely staged in tableau (The Oberammergau Passion Play,) and opportunity to stage the parables in class.
- “Forgiven and Loved” by Jimmy Needham – Laurel Shaler
Come move to this upbeat song that reminds us of the forgiveness and love we receive from Jesus. It is appropriate for all ages and skill levels.

This slower piece combines signs and lyrical interpretations. It is appropriate for all ages and skill levels.

Prepare for Easter or Mother’s Day with this movement piece that combines sign, lyrical, and drama. It is appropriate for all ages and skill levels.
- “Will You Hide Me” by Kelly Minter – Amy Shivar
The healing hand of the Almighty is powerful in all aspects of our lives. This slow tempo piece incorporates the use of dance rhythm streamers and is designed for the beginner and intermediate mover. Adaptations will be available for more advanced movers.
- "The Power of the Cross" by Stuart Townend – Amy Shivar
As believers, nothing is more powerful than the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross and His victorious resurrection from the dead! As Easter approaches, this piece can add to resurrection celebrations at your church. The movement is designed for all levels of interpretative movers working as a group and individually to rejoice in the power of the cross.
- "God of Second Chances" by Carlos Whitaker from Ragamuffin Soul – Amy Shivar
Everyone needs the second chances God graciously extends to us. This piece is designed for the intermediate and advanced mover and includes working with a partner and movement in contagion. Options to include beginners will be available.

Many familiar Bible stories remind us how we can be victorious through Christ. This piece uses movement to illustrate such biblical stories as David & Goliath, Lazarus being raised from the dead, the feeding of the 5.000, and others. This is a great piece for first-time interpretative movers and seasoned movers who like to use simple movement to tell a story.

PUPPETRY
- Basic Puppetry Techniques – Kenny Catoe
This workshop will cover proper entrances and exits, lip synchronization, puppet positioning and eye contact. We will also cover other tips for making the puppet come to life.
- How to Start a Puppet Ministry – From Start to Performance – Kenny Catoe
We will show you ways to start a ministry on a very low budget. Show you the difference between purchased puppets and puppet you can make yourself. We will give you ideas on constructing your stage. We will cover what it takes to put together a solid program and how to make the most of your rehearsals. Show you examples of props and other ways to bring some extra effects to the program.
- Using Puppets in Missions and other areas outside the church walls – Kenny Catoe
In this workshop we will share with you the ways we have used puppets on mission trips, festivals and day camps. From resort ministry to street ministry we will cover how to get the attention of people around you and draw them into your performance. This is an exciting seminar where “coloring outside the lines” takes a fresh new meaning. You will learn the techniques of blacklight puppetry/theatre, types of stages, lights, puppets and props.
- Beyond Words Puppet Skit Performance Class: - part one of two – Nick Frasher
The first session will review several powerful puppet skits that are presented without words. Through the use of appropriate music, sound effects, and appealing puppet actions, audiences of various cultures or multiple languages can receive the same message from God’s holy word, the Bible. Great skits for mission trips. During this session, parts will be assigned and a discussion on how to make all the props needed for these presentations.
- Beyond Words Puppet Skit Performance Class: - part two of two – Nick Frasher
This is rehearsal workshop for those who were assigned parts from part one of Beyond Words Puppet Skit Performance Class. Class will present two to three pieces during the Saturday Participant Performances for the conference. Pieces are from “Beyond Words” which is produced by One Way Street, Inc.

- Drama with Children – Rose Grayson
Do you want to use Creative Dramatics with your Children’s Ministry? This conference will focus on improv and storytelling games to use with the elementary school age child. Suggestions also will be given for Children’s Sermons that are dramatized.

This class will focus on Storytelling basics and styles. Special techniques such as string stories, drawing stories, flannel board, and stories to act out will be shared.

A look at the power of story to engage and involve an audience in communicating Bible stories and precepts.
