Vision/Purpose
“To urgently take the whole gospel to the whole world – that all may be whole.”
When the two words “whole” and gospel” are brought together, the breadth of the meaning of “gospel” is greatly expanded. While “gospel” means good news, adding the noun for completeness and inferring a coherent system, the disciple of Jesus Christ is challenged to not only tell of God’s infinite grace, love, healing, caring, peace, but also of His standards, His covenant, and His judgment.
When the two words “whole” and “world” are brought together, we are reminded the good news of Christ isn’t limited to one region or one ethnic group. Jesus spoke these words, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 15:15 - 16, HCSB). This parallels with Acts 1:8b, HCSB “. . . you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The mission of a disciple (believer) is to share the whole gospel of Jesus to every human being in every part of the world.
By taking the whole gospel to the whole world all people will have the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and surrender their life to Him – making Him Lord of their life. When one totally and completely surrenders to Christ they experience real freedom to be who they are created to be by God.
