3 Reasons To Be At The OMEGA Conference
“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)
In August of 2014, about 40 men gathered for one day of fellowship at Berea First Baptist Church. The messages shared that day led to life changing decisions. Since then, the attendance of the OMEGA Conference has grown — this men’s conference is now offered every six months. Although we collect an offering, there is no obligatory charge for any man or boy who attends the conference, which includes lunch.
So why should a man attend OMEGA? Why should your church bring a group of men to this event?
As a pastor, I have seen the impact this conference has had on the men from our church. Our men leave inspired and more willing to take an active role in our church ministries. Because we are in a single gender environment, men are freer to deal with the challenges they face in trying to live for Christ. The conference creates a safe atmosphere for men to be honest with themselves and honest with God because they can know that those around them face similar battles.
You will have the opportunity to learn about different men’s ministries to take part in and about the resources available to help grow or develop a men’s ministry in your local church. Several men’s ministries will have displays with information and resources to help you reach men for Christ and help them grow as disciples. Many of these ministry representatives will also lead break out sessions during the conference.
Just being honest, the OMEGA Conference is fun! I have never heard anyone say they didn’t enjoy the time they shared with us. Great music, breakouts, messages, and food will leave you looking forward to the next event. And when I say food, I am not talking about a bag lunch. I’m talking about a hot, freshly prepared meal. Although we may vary the menu occasionally, a typical meal includes marinated, grilled, boneless pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, tea, and a desert.
I hope you will consider joining us on Saturday, August 13th at Monaghan Baptist Church in Greenville. Adrian Despres and I will be the keynote speakers. Monaghan Church will be providing the music, followed by break out sessions.
The doors open at 9:00am (ministry displays will be open) and the conference will begin at 10:00am. We will serve lunch at noon, and we will finish up around 3:00pm. In order to prepare enough lunch, we do ask that you register by calling the church office at 864-246-8411 or visiting www.omegaconference5.eventbrite.com.
